Victor K. Chen, MD, MSPH

Victor Chen

Dr. Chen joined the Digestive Health Clinic in 2022 after 16 years of private practice in Reno. He introduced endoscopic ultrasound to Nevada in 2006.

He was originally from St. Louis, Missouri. He is an Eagle Scout, and was elected to the Order of the Arrow national honor society. Dr. Chen received a double-major and his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He completed both his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he also obtained a Masters of Science in Public Health. Dr. Chen finished his advanced fellowship at Case Western Reserve University under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Sivak, who is considered one of the forefathers of therapeutic endoscopy.

Dr. Chen became interested in medicine when his family friends died of metastatic colon and lung cancers, and specialized in Gastroenterology after his grandfather died of esophageal cancer. His mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2022.

He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology. Dr. Chen is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology as well as a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterological Association. He published extensively on endoscopic ultrasound in multiple peer-reviewed journals.
